Personal Finance - Everything for the Big Spender on a Budget

What is Foreign Exchange At Any Rate?

Keeping up with foreign currency is not as hard as it seems. Get to know what makes the world markets tick, and you could be in for a little extra for yourself."

All Kinds of Money

All Kinds of Currency

What is forex anyway? The terms foreign exchange and forex refer to the currency trading market, the biggest and fastest growing exchange in the world. Its daily turnover is in the trillions of dollars. Most traders in the forex market are commercial banks, businesses, institutions, hedge funds and people like you and me.

It works like this. In forex markets, the currency of different nations is traded like a stock or commodity. Gold and silver are also traded between nations in this exchange. Whether it's Mexican pesos or Japanese yen, it's all driven by the market rate. You don't have to buy or sell hard currency, any more than you have to take home the bushels of corn you might buy or sell in the commodities market (thank goodness!). You can deal in any currency pair you choose, though trades are always done in pairs. No three of a kind here.

What's the Secret?

The secret is to buy low and sell high, just like in the stock market. You can't let your emotions get involved. The profit comes from the periodic changes in the exchange rates between countries. Even though the changes are often very small, we're talking about changes several times a minute, so the opportunities are rich.

The Risk Factor

You're probably wondering if it's risky. And the answer is, of COURSE it's risky. Nothing of significant worth comes without risk. That's why we came up with SectorMatic Money Site - to help guide you through the rapids and come out grinning in a deep green pool. The good news is, in foreign exchange you can never lose more than your initial investment (also called your "margin"). And you can also make a significant amount of return on your investment, if you play your cards right.

You don't have to invest at all in order to "paper trade" in forex. You can start by educating yourself with the fine articles you find on SectorMatic Money Site.
